Words of Inspiration: A Weekly Devotional

Have you ever prayed about something, told God you were giving it to Him, and then spent the rest of the day worrying about it anyway?

Words of Inspiration: A Weekly Devotional
From the November 3, 2026 edition of the Satsuma Valley Standard.

Have you ever prayed about something, told God you were giving it to Him, and then spent the rest of the day worrying about it anyway? I know I have. We bring our burdens to God in prayer. We ask Him to take away our fears, our worries, and the things weighing heavily on our hearts. But the moment we finish praying, we pick those same burdens right back up and carry them with us. It's almost as if we trust God enough to tell Him about our problems, but not enough to let Him handle them. In 1 Peter 5:7, we're reminded to cast all our anxiety on Him. Not just the little worries. Not just the things we can't control. All of it. But surrender isn't always easy. We like having control. We want answers, solutions, and reassurance that everything will work out exactly the way we hope. The truth is, surrendering our burdens to God doesn't mean our problems will magically disappear. It means trusting that we don't have to face them alone. And sometimes, surrender isn't a one-time decision. It's something we have to choose again and again, every time worry tries to creep back into our hearts. So this week, as you sip your morning coffee, think about the burdens you've been carrying. Have you truly surrendered them to God, or are you still holding on? Remember, God never asked you to carry everything on your own. He asked you to trust Him enough to let go.

1 Peter 5:7: Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.
