SHS Graduate Hal Evans Brings Poetry to Life for Middle School Students

Students at Edwards-Johnson Silsbee Middle School are getting a creative lesson in poetry this week from a familiar face in the Silsbee community.

Actor, poet, author, and Silsbee High School graduate Hal Evans returned to his hometown to share his passion for poetry and creative expression with middle school students.

Evans kicked off his visit Monday by working with sixth-grade students, introducing poetry in a fun and imaginative way that encouraged creativity and self-expression. His engaging approach showed students that poetry is much more than words on a page.

The visit continues Tuesday with seventh-grade students, followed by eighth-grade students on Thursday.

Evans' return offers students an opportunity to learn from a fellow Tiger who has pursued his passion for the arts, reminding them that creativity can open doors to endless possibilities.

Parents are encouraged to ask their middle school students what they learned during this special visit. They might just discover a future poet in the family!
